MALONE FAMILY HISTORY

 VALCON MALONE

Valcon was born June 10, 1893 in Rossville, TN.  His parents were Ben and Mandy Malone.  Valcon was one of five children.  He was raised in Fayette County, TN.  Valcon’s parents died young and Harrison, his oldest brother, raised the children.  Valcon was an army veteran.  He was known to most of us as “Palcom”.  Valcon died in 1977.

 

VALCON’S BROTHERS AND SISTER

 Harrison was the oldest child.  He married Donnie Mall.  Harrison had one child, Lula Mae.  Harrison is deceased.

Frank married Rosie Lee.  They had no children.  Frank is deceased.

Syrilla was Valcon’s only sister.  She married Oliver Jones.  They had three children:  Robert, Mandy, and Ark.  Syrilla, Mandy, and Robert are deceased. Robert was known to most of us as “Cousin Bubba”.

Fred married Ora Bell.  They had three children:  Ruth, Fannie, and Catherine.  Fred died in 1969.  Ora is deceased.

 

LUCY MALONE

Lucy was born June 10, 1900 in Canadaville, TN.  Her parents were Will Mabone and Judy Sladen.  Lucy was one of eleven children.  She was raised in Fayette County.  Lucy died in 1968.

 

LUCY’S BROTHERS AND SISTERS

Rosie Lee married Frank Malone, who was Valcon’s brother.  They had no children.  Rosie Lee is deceased.

Ola married Chip Grandberry.  They had two children: Rosie Bell and Louis.  Ola and Rosie Bell are deceased.  Rosie Bell was Chester’s mother.

Addie married Lee Arnold.  They had nine children: Versie, Arline, Deloris, Columbus, Cleo, Virginia, Lee Jr., William Henry, “Brother Boy”, and “Crème”.  “Brother Boy”, Versie, Cleo, Columbus, and Addie are deceased.  Arlene is in Jackson, TN.  Virginia and Deloris live in Detroit, Michigan.

Tom never married and had no children.  Tom is deceased.

Mac never married and had no children.  Mac is deceased.

Maggie married Ed Simington.  They had two children: Anita and Ed Jr.  Maggie lived in Williston, TN.  Maggie passed away in 2013.

William never married and had no children.  William is deceased.

Author never married and had no children.  Author is deceased.

Marie was a twin to Maggie.  She died as a baby.

Jim never married and had no children.  Jim is deceased.

 

VALCON AND LUCY

Valcon and Lucy were married in 1920.  They had ten children, six daughters and four sons.  They raised their family in Fayette County, TN.  They lived in Cordova until their deaths.  Valcon and Lucy raised their family by farming.  Like most families during that time, they were sharecroppers.  Valcon was the provider and Lucy was the homemaker.  They instilled in all their children good morals and hard work.  They sent their children to school whenever possible.  They were church going, Christian people.  They are both buried at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Rossville, TN.  The children were raised up in this church.  Two of their children preceded them in death, Versie and Frank.

VALCON AND LUCY’S CHILDREN

 Myrtle was the oldest child.  She married Ebb Parrott.  They had eleven children: Ruby, Cora, Mary, Betty, Lois, Rosie, Annie, Jimmy, Ebbert, John Henry, and Marie.  Five of Myrtle’s children died: Betty, John Henry, Ebbert, Jimmy, and Marie.  Ebb died in 1994 and Myrtle died in 2007.

Houston was the second oldest.  He married Recie Hunter.  She preceded him in death.  He later married Clora Ruth Alexander.  There are fifteen children: Joe, Donnell, Clyde, Jessie, Jeanette, Charles, Oretha, Jacqueline, Pamela, John, Marcus, Houston Jr., Robert, Stephanie, and Derek.  Houston died in 1989, and Clora Ruth died in 1991. Jessie passed away in 2016.

Freddie Mae was the third child.  She married Augustus Hayslett.  They had five children: Floyd, Gloria, Lucy, Perry, and Lee.  One of the children, Lucy passed away.  Freddie Mae died in 1969.

Versie was the fourth child.  She married James Hayslett.  Versie and Freddie Mae married brothers.  Versie and James had three children:  Reed, Charlie, and T.W.  Two of the children, Charlie and T.W., passed away.  Versie died in 1951.

Frank was the fifth child.  He married Viola Fitzpatrick.  They had two children: Neal and Booker T.  Frank died in 1952.

Willie Ann was the sixth child.  She married James Davis.  They had eight children: Diane, Virginia, Melvin, Barbara, Connie, Paul, Margaret and Kaye.  Willie Ann passed on January 28, 2009.  One of the children, Diane passed away.

William was the seventh child.  He married Ora Demby.  They had nine children:  Deforce, Sharon, Maurice, Elizabeth, Audrey, Robin, Henry, Flora, and Frederick.  Ora passed away in 1998.  Deforce and Elizabeth have passed away.  William passed away on June 12, 2011.

Florine was the eighth child.  She married Louis Eddinborough.  Florine had one child, Linda.  Florine died in 1993.

James was the ninth child.  He married Marlean Gray.  James has four children: Nelson, Tony, Anita, and Floyd.  James lives in Arlington, TN.

Maggie is the tenth and youngest child.  She married Cleveland Webb.  They have three children: Carla, Bryan, and Bonita.  Maggie lives in Columbus, OH.
